In his address, Baeta Neves argues for the urgent need to protect forests, outlining their essential contributions to maintaining climate balance, regulating water flow, and fostering overall health in human populations. He draws on historical and contemporary examples to illustrate how deforestation leads to detrimental consequences not just for local ecosystems but for public welfare on a broader scale.
