It aims to shed light on gender dynamics and the labor market during this period, especially within a multicultural island setting. The opening of the study outlines the initiative taken to survey Honolulu's industrial environment, particularly as it pertains to women and girls. Blascoer discusses the positive aspects of the working conditions, such as reasonable working hours and safe environments, while also recognizing the need for further improvement. She presents her appreciation for the chance to conduct this survey, highlighting community engagement and the involvement of various committees local to Honolulu.
