Anglada, Charles
"Étude sur les maladies éteintes et les maladies nouvelles" by Charles Anglada is a scientific publication written in the late 19th century. The work delves into the historical evolution of diseases, exploring the emergence of new diseases and the extinction of old ones. Anglada's study emphasizes the importance of understanding the context and chronology of diseases as they relate to human history and health. The opening of the text serves as a preface, where the author outlines his dedication to thorough research while cautioning against the critique of his work. Anglada asserts that medicine has often disregarded its historical context and emphasizes the significance of studying past diseases to understand contemporary health issues. He introduces the central argument that new diseases emerge while others fade, and introduces the concept that there is a dynamic relationship between diseases and the societal, environmental, and historical conditions that influence their prevalence.
