The collection highlights the significance of proverbs in Swedish culture, illustrating the enduring nature of wisdom passed down through generations. The opening of this collection introduces readers to the long tradition of Swedish proverbs, noting their value in expressing moral and social concepts. Rhodin reflects on the origins of many proverbs, suggesting links between contemporary sayings and ancient sources, including references to historical scholarship. He acknowledges that this is not a comprehensive collection, but rather a personal endeavor that started to amuse himself and a friend, aimed at preserving proverbs as heard in daily conversations.
