"New, Old, and Forgotten Remedies: Papers by Many Writers" by Edward Pollock Anshutz is a collection of medical writings compiled in the late 19th century. This work compiles various papers discussing remedies ranging from well-known to obscure, with an emphasis on natural, traditional, or less conventional approaches to healing. The compilation serves as a resource for medical practitioners and enthusiasts seeking information on various remedies and their historical uses. The opening of the collection begins with a preface from Anshutz, outlining his motivations for compiling the work amidst increased inquiries on remedies from his correspondents. He describes the extensive process of gathering material from old journals and notes that the book contains a mix of valuable insights and potentially questionable information. Each remedy discussed is accompanied by clinical cases and experiences shared by various writers in the field, with an emphasis on the use of natural substances rather than synthetic ones. The detailed entries that follow present individual remedies, detailing their preparation, uses, and reported results in various medical contexts. (This is an automatically generated summary.)
