"小爾雅" by Fu Kong is an early Chinese dictionary compiled during the Han dynasty that supplements the classical Erya dictionary. With 374 entries organized into 13 semantically-based sections, it expands and simplifies definitions of abstract words, kinship terms, utensils, plants, animals, and introduces new categories including funeral terms and units of measurement. Though attributed to Kong Fu, a descendant of Confucius, scholarly debates continue about its true authorship and compilation date. (This is an automatically generated summary.)
