"The Fox and the Geese; and The Wonderful History of Henny-Penny" by Anonymous is a collection of children's stories likely written in the late 19th century. The book presents moral tales that teach lessons about caution, obedience, and the consequences of one's choices through engaging narratives featuring anthropomorphic animals. In the first story, "The Fox and the Geese," a mother goose warns her daughters of the dangers posed by a sly fox, but the youngest, Gobble, ignores the advice and pays with her life. Her sister Goosey tries to find a safer way but also meets a tragic fate until their wise sister, Ganderee, builds a secure house and outsmarts the fox, ultimately defeating him. The second story, "The Wonderful History of Henny-Penny," follows a hen who mistakenly believes that the sky is falling and decides to warn the king. She gathers a group of friends, but they fall prey to the cunning of Mr. Fox, who lures them into a trap. Both tales serve to impart the importance of heedfulness and resilience in the face of peril.
